Alice Lipping

Having lived and worked in the NYC area for 30 years Alice’s art is mostly influenced by the colors and textures of the Urban Landscape. Her work can be seen locally in restaurants and other alternative spaces, as well as galleries. She has worked on several commissions privately and for Interior Designers in the NYC and New Jersey area for both private and public spaces. Most notably with Whitehall Interiors for The Skyline Tower Lobby in LIC and Ashcroft Capital Offices in NYC. In addition to painting, Alice is the Founder and Curator of the “Brick Wall Gallery” at the restaurant Bar Dalia in Astoria, NY. As a curator, she wanted to create a space to help support local artists by providing a space for them to show their work and be seen. Alice continues to create out of her studio at Studio 34 in LIC, NY.

More About the Artist

As an Artist, Alice has always been fascinated with the process of painting. She enjoys experimenting with different ways of mark-making, using different materials and investigating contrasts, not only through color but through textures and space. She begins her paintings intuitively with large and loose brush marks, and as Alice adds more to the pieces that’s when the paintings begin to evolve in their own time. Energy and balance is created through this mark making and her paintings become more refined. She’s constantly exploring in her art, always pushing, changing, and trying new approaches to the work. It’s this process which defines her as an artist.
